面向电动车经销商的实操指南——进口、认证、成本与市场策略。
Electric tricycles ship as dangerous goods because of their installed lithium battery. Use a lithium-capable forwarder, choose CBU or CKD/SKD by duty, ship under UN3556 (not the old UN3171) with UN38.3 and MSDS, and agree FOB, CIF or DDP up front.
Each market needs its own certificate: Nigeria SONCAP plus the 2026 VehCAP, EU CE vs EEC/WVTA, Kenya PVoC, Saudi SABER, and national homologation across Southeast Asia. The certificate must be issued before shipment, usually after an inspection of the goods in China.
Petrol tricycles are cheaper to buy but far more expensive to own. Over five years, electric tricycles win on fuel, maintenance, downtime, and resale, recovering their higher purchase price in roughly one to two years, especially in high-fuel-cost markets like Nigeria after subsidy removal. Sell on total cost of ownership, not sticker price.
Becoming an electric-vehicle distributor in Africa or Southeast Asia follows six steps: assess your market and fuel-price gap, source from the right factory (OEM/ODM, MOQ, CBU vs SKD vs CKD), clear certification early, build spare-parts and after-sales capability, secure sound payment terms (T/T deposit or L/C) and regional exclusivity, and grow through a protected dealer network. Sell on total cost of ownership, not price.
CBU means fully built imports and usually carries the highest import duty. SKD and CKD kits ship the vehicle partly or fully disassembled, so most developing countries tax them at far lower rates and often add local-assembly incentives. Kits also load more units per container. Choose CBU for fast market entry and low volume, SKD as a low-effort middle ground, and CKD when duty savings and local-content rules justify a real assembly line.
Lead-acid batteries are cheaper up front, well understood, and easy to replace, which suits price-sensitive markets and buyers focused on the lowest sticker price. Lithium, especially LFP, costs more initially but lasts several times longer, weighs far less, holds range better, needs almost no maintenance, and tolerates heat well, giving a lower total cost over time. Choose lead-acid for the most price-sensitive buyers and lithium for premium, high-utilization, or hot-climate markets. Lithium also carries stricter shipping rules (UN3556 for the installed vehicle, plus UN38.3 and MSDS documents).
